Afternoon tea was a big disappointment. 30 per head . Choose somewhere else, it is my third time at the hotel , but this time the quality of the food , variety was all very average. There were 6 of us and it isnot to be recommended. I wrote to the hotel , but they could not be bothered to reply.
Expensive but well worth it. Recently attended a large Masonic gala dinner and ball with over 250 guests. It was superb. The waiting staff worked what I call the old fashioned way. The waited for the head waiter to summons them and then paraded in to there assigned work stations. This was for every course, both serving and clearing away. Extremely professional.
A fabulous hotel. Very luxurious lounge and bars. Our room was spacious and very clean. The staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived to when we left. Every meal we had was very good including afternoon tea.We have stayed here for Christmas and New Year and are planning to visit again during the summer
Very good country hotel, recently refurbished to a high standard & set in a large estate with lovely woodland walks.Staff are excellent & food is very good. Unfortunately, I found the wine selection, particularly the reds, very poor!Over all, we enjoyed our stay & definitely think Down Hall offers good value for money.
This is an absolutely lovely hotel. It has a regal atmosphere and is comforting in so many ways. The room was top notch. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the pillows were a great mid point between soft and supportive (something very difficult to find in a hotel in general). The building and grounds are gorgeous and the staff were all quick, attentive and happy to help. The room was exceptionally well kept by the housekeeping staff, even with the dirge of items we had for two weeks of staying plus racing that weekend. The restaurant has a great selection of meals and the cocktail bar is on point. I had a great blended scotch recommendation that I thoroughly enjoyed. 10/10, will stay again.
