I am extremely DISAPPOINTED with Zelleys. I had been under the impression that this jeweller offered a top-rated service, until the end of last year when I took in my beautiful engagement ring (not purchased at Zelleys) to be re-sized. My ring had an unusual satin, lightly brushed finish on the white gold band (really lovely!) so I was very careful before I made a decision to leave it to first check with the assistant that this would not be a problem and the finish would be unaffected when re-sizing. I was assured it would be fine and so I left the ring to have the work done. I was so upset when I went to collect the ring several days later to find the satin brushed finish had been completely REMOVED and my ring was now shiny instead and with deep marks in it!! Martin Zelley, the owner, attempted to bring my ring back to it's original state having admitted to me that it was not up to standard. He then went on to admit that the original satin brushed finish wasn't something Zelleys had experience of creating!! He therefore passed it back to me in a half finished state so I could take it back to the jewellery shop it was purchased from, for them to fix properly. I had said to Martin that had I been told in the first place when I took the ring in, that the work was beyond the shop's capabilities then I would have understood and I would have walked away and wouldn't now be in this extremely unsatisfactory and upsetting position where the finish on my beautiful engagement ring no longer looks anything like it did before. Also the band where it was re-sized has a notch out of the gold where it was shoddily joined! Martin admitted at the time that the shop had made a mistake by not informing me from the start that they wouldn't be able to do what was required. At no point during this whole episode did I hear one apology from Martin and I was extremely surprised when he still insisted in charging me for the work! I'm very disappointed with Zelleys and I certainly won't be returning. I am honestly not one to normally complain or leave bad reviews, but this was just a disaster from start to finish.I am leaving a review because I want to say to people that before leaving jewellery for work at Zelleys just make sure they are straight with you about whether they CAN in fact do what you are asking for! My ring is not the same as it was the day my fiance proposed and we are very upset about this. We will get it fixed but this whole experience has somewhat taken the shine off!
